The Flash Smelting Process developed by us has been called the greatest metallurgical innovation. It has been awarded the ASM Historical Landmark Status and rated as BAT (Best Available Techniques) production process by European Union because of its energy saving and environmental benefits.
In terms of capital expenditure and operating costs, Flash Smelting is a highly attractive choice. Since Flash Smelting makes use of the reaction heat of concentrate, no external energy is needed. In addition, a total of 99.9% of the sulphur can now be captured.
With improved efficiency and higher oxygen enrichment, a modernization of an old smelter can result in a 2- to 3-fold increased capacity with a relatively small investment. Currently approximately 40% of the world's new copper is produced with Flash Smelting technology.
